Sorry LiB, normally you're kind of cute, but don't you think it's kind of refreshing and modest that someone doesn't expect that everyone's familiar with his or her city? For example, some would say my fellow Canadians are quite arrogant, traipsing around the world expecting everyone to recognise the flag they feel compelled to stick on everything...

Anyway, welcome to the OP, and while I've never been to Beijing, I've heard a few things about it.

Yes, you're right..especially after the recent Olympic games that took place in that particular lesser known town. Excuse my sarcasm.

OP, welcome to the forum.

Well, it's a city which has the largest or the second largest population of chinese in the world and also a city where the china's president usually works.

Thank you everyone for your welcome!

You seem to know more about Beijing than I do. I had to google this place. It is in the Sun Temple, and I lived near the Moon Temple which is in the symmetrical place to the Sun Temple in Beijing.

By the way, please forgive the english translation of this sight spot. It is a 'pool' not a 'poo'.

Re: Hello, everyone. Im from china

I must say, I enjoyed beijing, I ate very good german, french, italian, and malaysian food there, never touched the Chinese food though... I ordered dumplings once and didnt recognize any of the ingredients, and nobody could tell me what was inside, so I left it and went to a Japanese Restaurant...

Apparently, 1 in 5 people in the world are Chinese. And there are 5 people in my family, so it must be one of them. It's either my mum or my dad. Or my older brother Colin. Or my younger brother Ho-Chan-Chu. But I think it's Colin.

Ni Hau. I lived in China for three years, one of them being in Tianjin. I thoroughly enjoyed all the visits I did to Beijing during that time - it's a city which I hope to return to again.

Springbokke: Why did you not eat any Chinese food? There are times that I get real cravings for the varied real Chinese flavoured meals.

I agree: LiB, not cute!!

But, I rather like the way Canadians attach back packs to their rather attractive flags. At home, I always stopped to pick up hitchhickers who had sewn their backpack onto their maple leaf flag. It's more mobile than tieing oneself to a flagpole.
