Sniffing around i found...

This Fantastic Site!!!
My family and I will be relocating from Williamsburg, VA to Switzerland (Zurich area) this summer. My husband will be working in Schaffhausen, and my children will be attending ZIS. We are very excited about the move and look forward to this new adventure!
In preparation for our move, I have been doing a lot of research trying to learn as much as I can about the Zurich area. Every time I Google a topic (i.e. Living in Horgen, Pediatricians, Vets, Dog Groomers, Food Shopping in Switzerland, etc.) I find a link to this site. I have spent hours reading various blogs and have found this site extremely helpful!
I am very grateful to all of you for the information you have provided thus far and I look forward to using this site as a tool going forward to learn as much as I can about Switzerland.
Much Thanks!
Eileen

Hi Meisie, Thanks for the Welcome. Also, you posted one of your favorite restaurants in the Horgen area on a different Blog, the L'O http://www.lo-horgen.ch/essen-e/. It looks like a really nice place so I added to my favorites. Maybe my husband and I can try it the next time we are in Horgen. Thanks for the advice. Have a great day!

hiya, you could say that, we moved from uk to CH in 2008. my husband works for unilever and i know that there are a lot of americans coming this summer, they will be working i think malnly in Logistics like my hubby.
we have a very active Unilever Partners network although most(but not all) of the activities are based around SH as that is where a large number of the families have settled. if you want to pm me your email address i can pass it onto the UPN coordinator so you start getting the newsletters etc.

I am originally from northern Virginia.
I wanted to tell you to check out the Seerose- a beautiful restaurant on the water on your side of the lake. Lovely in the summer. It feels like being on vacation. Weather permitting- ask for a table outside.

Hope you enjoy your stay here. We've got very good friends in Williamsburg and visited twice (from W&M Uni). Welcome.

Hi Odile,

We have lived in Williamsburg for three years and love it here! You are the second person from Switzerland I encountered that visits Williamsburg. It is such a small world. We are hoping to return at least once a year to visit friends and family. It was great talking to you!

Eileen

Hi Eileen

Welcome in advance to Switzerland. I hope you have a great stay here.
The setup for the children sounds great with regards to school and living in Horgen, but your husband will be spending a big chunk of his day getting back and forth to work...the commute from Horgen to Schaffhausen is not going to make that part of his day much fun....

Have you considered ZIS in Baden and living between Baden and the German border? There are direct trains from Waldshut to Schaffhausen. This would make his commute bearable and put the children in easy reach of the ZIS campus in Baden.
