Arriving March 31 from Germany, from North Carolina

After much ado to get ready things are falling into place with our move to Basel. We have a rental house in Riehen, youngest found a special school for kids with hearing and speech problems and it is in German not swiss German. We are looking forward to being involved in the expat community and getting to know some of the Swiss neighbors (have read it is hard). Wife works for Pharma and I am stay at home Dad. We are looking forward to our new adventure in Switzerland.

Welcome to the Forum from a Texan!!

Let us know if you have questions about Switzerland or the language or whatever!!

There are lots of rules here, and if you don't speak German, it can be
a bit overwhelming.

Welcome to the Forum! This is a very helpful site and a great way to connect with the Expat Community! You mention North Carolina, my family and I will be relocating from Williamsburg Virginia this summer. We love the Outer Banks in North Carolina! We try to escape there as often as possible. Best of luck with your move to Basel!

We are coming from Germany, my German is pretty good, but with move get new round of German lessons. Not so goood with Swiss German. Kids speak better than me, obviously as they are in school. Wife just a little as she works. Thanks for reply. Love the beach in NC, especially in fall and spring, weather warm and fish bite better than summer without the crowds. Water is still warm enough for swimming, spent Thanksgiving near Pine Knoll Shores (south of OBX), kids swam entire week.

Coongrats on your upcoming move. I'm from NC as well and spent every possible moment of my childhood swimming in the straits in SOBX. Cheers!

Welcome! What part of North Carolina are you from? I lived 9 years in the Raleigh area. My sister lived in Charlotte and my mother now lives in Charlotte as well.
