Hello English Forum Members,
I have just arrived in Basel from Melbourne, and will be living and working here for two years. I need to make some new friends ASAP!! Any tips / advice on how to meet wonderful people quickly would be much appreciated. I am a 25 girl, I love sport, shopping, travelling and socialising! I am very keen to join a sporting club / gym / running club as I think this would be a great way to meet people.
Any advice would be fantastic, thank you  |

Welcome to Basel! Fairly quiet city but with the growing number of auslaenders it should get more fun.
A couple of irish pubs might be a good place to meet foreigners, not to mention of course the events organised by the forum members, keep an eye on the events section.

For sport: Basel Dragons Running club

I don't know how your singing skills are but the first Friday of every month is karaoke night at Pickwicks. Also, every Wednesday from 9pm there are a group of expats that meet at All Bar One.
Basel is a great city and I'm sure it will take you no time to make friends

For socializing in basel you can Join centrepoint , (Centre Point is a place where you can meet all expatriates of all nation )

I was very excited when I read your message.. I am in the exact same position as you - just arrived in Basel and are staying a few years working.
I would really like to get to know some nice people here in Basel, and I thought this was a good opportunity I am 26 girl from Denmark. Like you I am very active and love shopping, hanging out, going out etc. Maybe we could join some of the activities proposed earlier in this thread together? Or go for a coffee/beer some day?

Welcome Do you live in Basel city or..? I will recommend that you read the local paper to find out what`s going on (gym, hiking, singing...)
