Looking for friends in Fribourg

Hi There,

I moved to Fribourg as Ph.D. Student at UniFr since November. I like it here, but it starts to get a bit too lonely. It would be very nice to have some friends around. I'd like to meet some people that could speak English. Please drop me a line and we could meet up for a drink or something like this.

Cheers,

I'm an undergrad at UniFr studying French.
I've only been here for two weeks so I haven't really met anyone besides some of the other Erasmus students.

I am a native English speaker from the US.
I don't drink though.

I have sent you a PM about the English Speaking club of Murten Morat. The membership is about 50% "English native speakers" and 50% native Swiss. Members are from all walks of life and are variously fluent in E/D/F/I

Welcome to EF!

I'm a postdoc at UniFr (Physiology)...been here for almost 2 years now.
I'm always around Perolles if you want to meet up, or go for a drink.

Hope you are going to stick around for Carnival (starts 4th March)!! It's a great time to be around Fribourg and get to know some of the crazy locals.

..or you could always take part in my experiment!!!

Re: Looking for friends in Fribourg

Hi, everyone.

It's been a while since I log in. I am in the same boat. I arrived here last December 2010. I would love to meet new people. We can meet for a coffee, snack but I don't really drink alcohols.

While I live in the canton of FR, I'm not that close to the city, but can drive there nevertheless. Anyway, would love to join the meeting.
So, what about gathering altogether this Sunday? Anyone can suggest a place opened?

Re: Looking for friends in Fribourg

This weekend is Carnaval in Fribourg so I imagine some people might be slightly worse for wear on sunday (as well as saturday, monday, tuesday and wednesday!)

In any case I'm working sunday night but I guess I could crawl out of bed for a coffee at some point before hand. Plenty of places are open, I guess TM would be the most comfortable though and where I work would be open too (XXe).

Re: Looking for friends in Fribourg

Hi, there.

Wow, it's great that there are some who would like to meet up. Btw, anyone who is free any of monday-friday? Late afternoon is great. I am starting my german class this monday in Bern. So, after my class when I get home is great. Otherwise, maybe we can explore Bern.

I would like to meet nice people especially who I can communicate.

Cheers

Re: Looking for friends in Fribourg

It's carnaval this weekend so will be busy getting drunk in basse-ville when I'm not working/ recovering. Personally, next weekend would be better.

Hi,Millso.

That would be great. It is a very good idea. Let's meet up for a coffee. It's great to meet new people around fribourg. We live in the same canton after all. Let's organize and anyone who is willing to join is welcome.

Hi,Millso.

Thursday is great. Around 2 pm? Coffee will be good. But you can have your beer of course. Any suggestion where we can meet? Somewhere I can easily find. .

Anyone who is interested can join us.

Cheers,
Gcd

Re: Looking for friends in Fribourg

Sure 2pm, sounds good. Do you know café XXème? It's situated around the corner from the main post office very close to the station (you pass it if you walk from station to the post office, it's in same building) or there is also TM (Talk Music) close to Mc Donalds if that's easier for you.

Otherwise just suggest a place that you know and we can meet there.
