Late-20s Aussie woman here, moving to Neuchâtel in late April to take up a job. I've found so much useful info on this forum already - what a great resource. Thanks for the wealth of communal knowledge! I'll definitely be posting a question or two now that I've taken the leap and joined properly

Looking forward to meeting the local EF members if you're still doing your monthly drinks, and to hear your advice on where to take French lessons in the town, amateur music groups to join etc.

Bienvenue à Neuchatel - you have chosen well! Small but perfectly formed - near Lake with mountains all around, and with Bern and Lausanne very close by. There is a group here who meet regularly for drinks at the Café des Cerfs- so join them as soon as you arrive.

Welcome! What kind of music do you play? I might be able to help you out with that one. I'm always up for going out for a drink, maybe even a little dance (and karaoke...) so you'll definitely have someone who you can rely on for social activities! I play the violin - I'm classically trained and have been doing a lot of classical playing (orchestral and chamber music) in the last couple of years but have played jazz, rock and 'alternative' folk in smaller groups in the past. Really anything would be fun, I can read music and improvise so could give most styles a go. I won't have my own instrument with me until later this year though, so I'll be looking to rent or borrow one when I arrive... if anyone has a spare violin lying around, let me know!

Thanks Angelap, will do. I chose a good time to arrive here - perfect weather, plus the 'illuminated Neuchâtel' event last night was beautiful and the city was packed with people!

Speaking of drinks - are there any plans for another Neuchâtel meetup? I know of a couple more English speakers who'll be arriving in the next couple of weeks and who'd probably be keen to come along too...

The candles in the old town yesterday evening were great, weren't they ? I don't remember ever having seen so many people in the streets of Neuchâtel - other, of course, than the last weekend of September, and that's a very different story. Lorikeet, you will be discovering that one soon if you haven't already heard about it...
