Hello from Ireland

Firstly I would like to thank those of you that have replied to my previous post about Frenkendorf.
I am in the process of moving to the Basel area with my young family, and are looking to be based outside of the city. We are originally from the UK but have been based in Ireland for the past 3 years, so are use to the wide open spaces. I have enjoyed reading a lot of the threads and they have provided a lot of very useful information. I am looking forward to contributing in the future and to getting to know some of you better in the coming weeks and monhts

Re: Hello from Ireland

Welcome to Switzerland and the forum .

This is a lovely country in which to bring up children and there are many EF members based in Basel so I am sure you will settle in and connect with some of them soon enough.

Look out for various social events that may interest you in the Activities area of the forum in order to expedite things on the social front.

Where in Ireland were you based? I have been to Dublin some years ago for a big international Rugby match with some friends who are nuts about it. However, I went shopping during the game and met up with them in a pub afterwards . Had a great trip and time! Gotta love the warmth and friendliness of the Irish. Awesome.

Anyway, enough on all that and welcome once more!

Cheers

Re: Hello from Ireland

Welcome to the EF, O'Henry! Switzerland is a beautiful place and the quality of life here is wonderful. You may miss the friendly warmth of the Irish, though! I lived in Dun Laoghaire as a child and really love Ireland. The good news is, in Switzerland, you're just a quick flight away when you need a visit! Best of luck settling in. Enjoy your time here!

Re: Hello from Ireland

I grew up in Limerick and been hanging out in Basel a few years now. The people are friendly, its great for kids, and you'll love the weather especially when it gets warm. Good point about Ireland only a flight away although from Basel think of a slight detour via Uk if you need to hit the West of Ireland. Give us a shout when you hit Basel. Don't forget the Taytos. I'll buy you a welcome drink in Paddys.

Re: Hello from Ireland

Hi O'Henry, and welcome to the EF! You should settle in nicely in Switzerland, even if you're still learning the language(s) ... heaps of helpful people, and some of them are on this forum!

As Ishaka said, get into the Social Events thread once you hit the ground - a good way to meet up with some people in your area who've been through the same experience!

Hopefully he hit the ground (running!) a while back, and is firmly planted on Swiss soil ...
