| | Newbies in Neuchatel Hey Gang,
Just wanted to say hi. My husband has been in Neuchatel since October for his master's degree, and I joined him here around Christmas time. We're Canadians and so far are falling in love with this region. I'm currently taking intensive french courses, with the hopes of maybe (just maybe) being able to work here at some point (I am a counsellor - anyone need counselling? . We're both pretty laid back, love the outdoors, travelling, and good food. We're also driving ourselves a little crazy trying to decide if we should splurge and get motorcycles. No kidlets.
Thanks for reading - hope to connect with some of you kind souls in the area. | This user would like to thank Kristanez for this useful post: | |

Hello to you and your husband! There are a fair few of us around here now. Check the social events section (I wanted to do something on Thursday for St. Paddy's Day, but don't think many people have seen it!) and sign up to this Yahoo group. Hopefully see you soon!

I tried to post in a Neuchatel thread before Kamarate but I failed again.
Welcome to Neuchatel to the thread starter. It's a nice little city with a lot of character!

Get the bikes, but please change your type script colour. It's very difficult to read with John Lennon glasses. |

Welcome, we live up in the mountains above Neuchatel and would be very happy to show our coutryside to newbies. Will organise a few 'mountain' events this Summer, starting with the Fete de l'Absinthe in June.

| | Re: Newbies in Neuchatel Thanks everyone! I just joined the neuchatel yahoo group as Kamarate suggested, and I am already excited about these upcoming mysterious mountain events...you clearly know how to build up some excellent suspense. And of course, who wouldn't like being told what they wanted to hear regarding motorcycles?! Nothing like creating your own peer pressure yes? | This user would like to thank Kristanez for this useful post: | |

Mountain events will include a walk at the Creux-du-Van followed by a fondue in a mountain farm restaurant- a walk to Chasseron with lunch at the top, and a walk up the Gorges de la Poetta Raisse with picnic. Fete de l'absinthe in Boveresse, 18th of June if I remember rightly.
Edit : date correct. If you want me to arrange accommodation and a meal - get in touch early.

Swimming in the lake, bbqs, walking in flipflops *sigh*

Oh my, with all that thinking of summer, absinthe, lakes and mountains, I didn't even say welcome to the forum! Glad you're enjoying Neuch, and hope to meet you at an EF event some time! |

Great places all around the Lake - yes, would be fun to organise a walk and a picnic, or a resto meal - as long as you don't mind sharing with 2 old biddies.

Wow! Those each sound perfect (mountain walks, bbqs, fondu, picnics). Are events typically organized through the YAHOO group, or through the events page here on EF?
Oh, and for the record, anyone who can call themself an ol'biddy is tops in my books.
Thanks everyone for the welcome.

I think most events go on both groups, but I often forget to check the Yahoo group (I don't use Yahoo for anything else). Personally, I would check the events section on here.
