Impossible move to Switzerland?

Hi y'all, I am not new to this forum as I have been reading your postings for months - thank you, very informative. I am in a dilema and I prefer your 2 cents as we're all strangers here. I met my Swiss partner in Asia and she is moving back to Zurich soon. She has invited me to join me. I am fully aware of the work permit situation there. I am non EU and I only have an Asian diploma in media designs which is most probably not recognised in Zurich. My chances of finding work with permit would be close to zero. No? I know there are some of you out there who started by learning German and eventually landed a job after a year or so of getting your faces slammed. I salute you. Is it really so impossible for me? I do not want to be seperated with my partner just because she is Swiss. Any positivethoughts out there?

Positive thoughts... maybe realistic thoughts should prevail at first...
Some way or another, you'll have to settle your legal status for your stay in Switzerland, be it by means of a valid work permit or marriage...
Some way or another, you'll have to learn some (fair) amount of German when living in Zurich.
Some way or another, you'll have to adapt/confirm your professional status to Swiss standards or continue studying in your field.
If this is part of a scheme you both agree upon, then I wish you the best of luck.

Re: Impossible move to Switzerland?

There are exceptions to the norm even here in CH!

I know of a Burmese guy who married his Swiss partner in Rangoon - they lived for 2 years in Myanmar before coming over to Zurich. He used to be a tour guide, and now owing to decent English ( and very basic German - he was a former classmate of mine for German lessons ), he works at the Zurich airport within the hospitality line, and soon will be converting his B permit to a Swiss pass.

I wouldn't see this as an exception; he settled the major problem in a radical way...
