Swiss lady living in Zurich

Hello
I am a Swiss lady with a husband and two grown-up children. I have been living in Zurich all my life except the years I spent working abroad (London and Paris) and travelling (North America and South America). I love languages (English and Portuguese), active and passive sports, music, family, friends... I am young at heart... My mother tongue is Swiss German.

No, it's just by giving us your full name we can google you and find out all kinds of interesting facts.

Hi

Thanks! Well I don't really have anything to hide but now I am doubtful whether posting threads under my full name was not such a good idea after all... .

Re: Swiss lady living in Zurich

However, as you say you are now self-employed and Googling your name brings up a firm which is probably yours, I'm afraid you'll have to change it whether you like it or not. Commercial User Names are not permitted on here.
If you get in touch with Admin under Contact Us, you can suggest another, less easily 'connectable' User name and have it changed.

Re: Swiss lady living in Zurich

Hi Swiss Lady. So you know Portuguese (I am a Portuguese from Portugal). Brazilian Portuguese or Portugal one? They are quite different.

Welcome to EF (as stated in my recent introduction - Porto to Zurich - i am not in Zurich but my expectation if everything goes well to move next month).

Boa semana para si. (Nice week for you in Portuguese).

Re: Swiss lady living in Zurich

Hi, Olá
Thank you for your message! I'm tempted to answer in Portuguese but this is certainly not the idea. Your question about which Portuguese I speak is definitely quite interesting. I am sort of in between the Portuguese from Portugal and the "Brazilian" but I must admit that I am more connected to Portugal than to Brazil and, for example, I say "estou a ler" and not "estou lendo" or "comboio" and not "trem". "My" town in Portugal is Coimbra and a part of my heart is Portuguese.

I am working in Coimbra but i am from Oporto. I hope Zurich to be like Porto and not Coimbra.

Coimbra is only good when you are student and for last U2 concert .

Well you'll find out for yourself how Zurich is.... I'm sure that your new colleagues will take you out for drinks and show you around ..
Coimbra is certainly quite different from Zurich although I cannot say much about Oporto as I was there only once. To Coimbra I've been so many times over the years that I've stopped counting (visiting friends).
