Hello,

I moved to Zurich at the end of February with my husband who started a job here. We had lived in Seattle for over 8 years, and while we have roots in a few places around the US, this is our first time living overseas.

We do not have children (yet), and are very interested in traveling around Switzerland and Europe, as well as settling in to a nice life in Zurich.

We are used to the weather, but that is about it. Over the first month here we've managed to navigate finding an apartment (barely) and getting on the correct bus or tram (sometimes). There are still new discoveries everyday, and we hope that we will be able to learn from the members of this forum and help future newbies as we gather experience.

I will admit we have been consuming the advice and tips from the forum for quite some time, especially in the prep for the move. It's been truly wonderful.

Thank you in advance for allowing me to officially participate on englishforum. I love to socialize and have fun, so I guess I better get started!

By Swiss standards this spring has been very dry so get used to the idea that things can only get worse.

Glad you are enjoying life and that you, as you say, mostly get onto the right tram. You would be by no means the only one around here who landed in quite the wrong place not realising that this particular train doesn't stop.

Swiss spring is wet? Gosh, I never even noticed..

Welcome to Switzerland! It rains more in Seattle than it does here but during the summer, we rarely go a week without a downpour whereas Seattle can go weeks without a drop of rain.

To be honest, I like the weather better in Switzerland than Seattle. And Switzerland handles snow on the roads much better too.
