The Worst Thing I Ever Studied Was French

I am Katarina Henning-Allegra.

I have endured life in the United States since the age of six, when I traveled there in order to later attend Vassar College on a dressage scholarship. After a brief respite to recover after "the incident" at Institut Villa Pierrefeu and a very brief stint as a professional soccer player (father was very distressed) I graduated from Vassar with a major in pre-revolutionary French sociology. This course of study had the positive side effect of rendering me totally unemployable in any economy. (At least until father forced me to get a Master of Finance degree).

Ok, yes, I am engaged to "Bob from Compliance," an American of somewhat stoic demeanor whose greatest quality is defined by the combination of his being of adequately low maintenance when absent and his predilection to spend long strings of time at the office.

You must understand, of course, that my engagement was something of an accident, I had been drinking quite a lot of champagne and was feeling very irritated with my parents that weekend and it seemed an effective manipulative tool at the time. For the moment, however, it pleases me to maintain my status as a "fiancée," not least because of the elevation in social status the otherwise meaningless title affords me amongst the murderously treacherous waters harbouring my very closest friends.

[Truthfully, I actually love Bob quite a lot. Especially during business hours.]

I am somewhat pleased to have returned to the continent, although Bob's inability to obtain work credentials in Vienna is a constant source of tension, placated only by the modern programming of a sufficiently adequate quality one finds on the Fehrnseher in Zug, where we now live. For example, I have developed a new appreciation for the soothing rhythms of Snooker (with the volume on mute and the brightness turned down until the screen is black).

On the more serious side, I am also an evil hedge fund mistress (I trade energy futures) as well as Bob's favorite rifle student. I've never lived anywhere as simply gorgeous as Zug and I am looking forward not only to settling down and practicing my long lost German, but also watching Bob push a pram around and rooting for North Korea's football team at Mr. Pickwick, the oldest English pub in Switzerland (Est. 1969) and the only English pub in the world that proudly serves Jameson Irish Whiskey! (No, really!)

As you can probably tell, "Bob" and I are a fun-loving sort, and we are really looking forward to our new (if somewhat quiet) life in Confoederatio Helvetica- especially the weekend trips to Zürich! (Just play along when Bob talks about the Zombie Apocalypse).

I was going to suggest you not post your real name on an internet forum, then I thought "surely a Vassar girl is smarter than that!", googloogle, sure 'nuff, you are.

Re: The Worst Thing I Ever Studied Was French

When I say that I find Bob From Compliance adorable and attractive, especially from a distance, I assure you, I am not speaking about myself. Although we occasionally use matching luggage when traveling so I usually make him walk at least ten feet away from me at the airport and ignore him if he talks to me.

I do not skate. Being forced to take figure skating at an age/time of my life when my itinerary read like a conference schedule put any vague interest I may have once held in such activities "on ice". Where it remains.

Bob and I also look forward to spirited evenings and afternoons at Pickwick.

Also corrected to the fact that Vassar is a college of higher education doesn't accept toddlers on dressage scholarships.
