| | New in Zurich, coming from Qatar :-)
Hi everyone!,
I relocated from Qatar just a week ago; I came from a hot country with sandstorms, skycrapers & the cheapest fuel in the planet, to a totally different country like Switzerland, with a lot of greenery, very effective & organized, and with 2 days off for you per week to enjoy ;-)
I´m more the type of person who prefers hot weathers rather than cold/continental ones, but from time to time is good a change of scenery, so let´s see how everything works out, he he. If not, I can always come back to my dear Middle East region :-)
For now, I´m already freaking out with the prices; it seems than in Switzerland they even charge you just for smiling!
Cheers,

Cheers, | | | | | No they don't. In fact, smiling is one of the things that are definitely free - and the more you give them, the more you will find that other faces here begin to thaw and smile back at you. Before you know it, you will find you are living in a warm country afterall. | This user would like to thank biff for this useful post: | |

Welcome to Switzerland and to the Forum. I hope you find that the fantastic scenery and wealth of outdoor activities go some way to compensating for the warmth back home.

Your rule applies to pretty much every place on this planet.
QatarExpat, welcome to Switzerland and the English Forum. This place is full of useful info. Just take some things with a pinch of salt. Sometimes we are a rumbustious bunch, with a lot of teasing. And don't take every complaint too seriously. Those who like things usually don't come to forum to tell everybody how great they feel. It's like a forum dealing with adverse effects of medicaments -- those who are doing great on a medication can't be heard.
As for the cold weather, if what we are having right now is cold weather in your book, you better keep your thick sweaters out of the drawer for a while. It's called a heat wave.

| | | | | I was thinking more of the winter season in Switzerland, when I was saying that
I´m quite happy with the weather now.
Anyway, thanks for your advice and for the warm welcome!
