Hi Stane, I'm a student who will studying in Geneva from August, and I have many plans to travel to Lausanne during my spare time, so I will definitely be shooting you some questions on all the hot spots!
If you'd like, we can even do a mini "tandem linguistique", where you can practise your English and I can practise my French.

Hi Stane,
I'm afraid you will have to leave now because this is the forum for English speakers of a higher level and not for people who want to learn English - does it look like a language school?
Only joking!!
Welcome to the forum. You'll need to get used to a certain English sense of humour so I thought i'd break you in gently.
Read as much English as you can and you'll learn in no time.

I believe that many EFers (members of the English Forum (EF) community) are associated with EPFL, look around a bit and you should find many English speakers in your community.
Also, are you aware of the Serveur Tandem de l'Université de Lausanne; it would seem to be an excellent way of meeting English speakers.

Welcome Stane!
I found that when I wanted to improve my English the easiest way to do it was by reading, at first there are words you don't understand and you look them up but then the words become familiar and it is fun! There are also English books for different levels, or you can also start with simple Children's books, that is how I started when I wanted to learn Dutch
Good luck!

I can say anything and everything I need to in French, but writing it is another matter altogether.
As well as reading books, looking at English-speaking television would probably help as much as anything.
I was always told that bed was the best place to learn a foreign language, if you get my drift |

Firstly,...... don't worry about your English, it's perfect for what you need to write on the EF..... and you get big bonus points for trying.
(My German is completely crap)
I thought you should follow this thread though, these threads seem to suit you (and others) a lot better: Find Your Tandem/Language Exchange Partner on EF!
or Find your language exchange/tandem partner in LAUSANNE!
Hope this helps | Quote: | | | | | Hi everybody my name is Stane i come from Lausanne.
I'm a young boy 22 years old ....... nice party and whatever. | | | | | ..... There are so many (older) ladies on the EF who want to meet you |
