New to Lausanne Switzerland

Hey Everybody,

I am an American (from California) moving to Lausanne to work as a Post-Doc at the EPFL. I will be arriving on the 15th of May. I absolutely love outdoor sports, specifically hiking. Are there any clubs which organize group hikes or mountain bike rides on the weekends?

I would appreciate any advice.

Tom

Re: New to Lausanne Switzerland

I hike alone, but am aware of the Association Vaudoise de Tourisme Pédestre (site only in French!). They organize many group hikes.

A quick search showed that EPFL has a Club Montagne EPFL; much of their web site seems to be "under construction" but the club seems real enough!

In my haste to search for the relevant associations I forgot to start with a to the EF and to Switzerland

Hey, Tom!

I am kind of in a very similar position as you :-) I just arrived to Lausanne. I work in a company that resides in Parc Scientifique at EPFL and I am super keen to do some hiking around here!!!

So did you found some hiking club?

Best regards, Tereza

Hi Tereza,

Sorry, I just saw your post today! But yes, indeed, there is a Lausanne city club:

http://www.cas-diablerets.ch/pgm_courses.php

The site is only in French but the leaders are understanding if you don't speak French initially. Maybe I will see you there!
