New in Basel

Hi there!

I've been here in Basel for exactly one month today! My husband works for Roche and actually we were living in Basel for 1 year in 2008. After that, we moved to South Africa and Germany for another 2 years. Now we're here Again!

I don't have many friends here and by chance I clicked the forum this afternoon and I think maybe I could get some new friends here

By the way, we're from Shanghai, China. And we've no kids so far. My husband's rather busy with his work so I need to find something to fill my leisure time. Right at the moment I'm considering to apply for a degree in University of Basel, and am waiting for the permission.

Hope to have new friends soon...

Welcome to the Forum . You should check out the events calendar, probably a good way to make some friends http://www.englishforum.ch/calendar.php?c=1. Good luck with the uni admission.

I misread your post at first, I had a little laugh

Re: New in Basel

Hello Yanni, welcome (back) to Basel and to the English Forum as well!

If you check down at the Events section of the forum, fairly often there are things us Baslers are getting up to... the soonest I can think of off the top of my head is the Basel Expat Expo which takes place this Sunday. As it is a commercial event, I think it is listed appropriately in Commercial Events.

Meanwhile, depending upon what you're into, there are lots of things to do! There are all sorts of clubs (running club and book club, just to name two), or more social Curry Nights that take place on a monthly basis and other things like that.

The end of the month a few of us are thinking to head over toward Weil am Rhein as there is a Medieval Faire going on that weekend.

Hopefully see you around sometime!

Well I was actually laughing as it sounded like the reason you don't have kids is because your husband works a lot, so he doesn't have time . Though 'no child' is also funny
