Going to Switzerland in October.

My names Kurt and am from England, but am living in Florida for the past 8 years. Wife and myself, as well as our twin girls 3 months old and 3 year old son are leaving for Geneva in October for 30 days. Plan on renting a nice place and getting to travel and scope out the area for the possibility of moving there in 2012.

Getting tired of the never ending rat race, and now with 3 lovely kids want to relax a bit and enjoy the times with them.

I'll be using the search button and asking lots of questions prior to leaving.

Anyway, just wanted to say hello!

Re: Going to Switzerland in October.

Hi there and welcome to the forum.

Bad news first - if you plan a nice peaceful relaxing time with no hassle, away from the rat-race, in Geneva, I suggest you check out possibilites of accomodation there. (sit down before you start! )

Good news - there is a lot of info on here. Masses of sites for looking for properties at the top of the Housing in General sub forum (but, bad news again, few properties in Geneva).

Hope you manage to sort things out successfully.

Re: Going to Switzerland in October.

Hi Lamborghini and welcome! If you are planning on bring a Lamborghini with you then you should fit in pretty well ;-)

It is true that the accommodation situation is difficult in Geneva, so start looking early and use any help you can get, whether from contacts already here or through a specialised agent.

Once you are set up though then you will certainly have a relaxing time, with the lake on your doorstep and mountains on all sides which are easily reachable for walking/cycling in the summer and skiing in the winter.

Don't write off the idea of living a little out of town either - Geneva is small so if you want space/tranquillity you can easily live 10-15km outside the city in a beautiful village, but still be quickly into town when you want.
