New to the Great Site..!!

Hello everybody. This week, I was searching the net on where to buy Manuka Honey (honey from New Zealand and alleged to have unique health factors). Then my great answers where displayed in the postings under the englishforum website. Apart from the honey info, I was intrigued about how rich with info this site is..!! Well done guys!

Am originally from Zimbabwe and have spent more than 5 years in Switzerland (Liestal). Currently winding up my PhD thesis in Nanoscience at the University of Basel. I like Basel (a vibrant society).

I enjoy after work evening drinks, so I would be glad to accompany those who, once in a while, go drinking in Basel town.

Hey Copfum. Welcome to the forum.

You seem to have found your way around, but in any case check out the Events Calendar for stuff happening around town.

Maybe see you around one day.

Sounds technical. Is is it anything to do with the recent Migros promotion?

Thanks Mirfield. Sure I will check on the events calendar for anything to keep me alive in Basel.

As for Manuka Honey, its nothing to do with Migros promotion. I bought it for my father in law. This week he went through a 3rd (within 4 months) of cancer treatment for Merkel Zell Carcinoma. Those who are aware of cancer they know that this type of cancer is a rare but very aggressive one. Its treatment is still at its infancy, hence not much of effective therapies exist. As a chemist I research a lot and found this Manuka Honey which is believed to have many health properties. Apart from having proven universal antimicrobial properties, it is believed to boost the immune system after cancer treatment. I keep my fingers crossed that he will find this beneficial.

Cheers, Copfum

Hey Copfum,

I am not a scientist but I;m a holistic health professional and would love to share my 2 cents worth.

Manuka have been touted to be a great source of anti- everything..Unlike normal honey, it does have a strange smell (smells..well..anti bacterial!) and has a strange after taste. You might also like to try Virgin coconut oil. It's also anti everything (-bacterial, -viral and -fungal). I have started using it as an adult again and my anecdote is as follows- My 10 month old baby had double middle ear infection recently, was given 2 courses of Amox anti bac. What happened after was that he developed fungal infection in his mouth and bum area (painful condition for him.) After 1 week, it looked like it was going away. Then it transferred to me as a nursing mum. It then transferred back to him as I was not using any cream. Decided to use coconut oil on my boobs which meant he was having it in his mouth.

Within 36 hours, his full blown infection was almost gone in his mouth and it also solved the infection on my bits! I was amazed. In any case, I have also heard of high doses of Vitamin D being really good for cancer victims. There's many MD's who claim that the effects of higher doses of Vit D against cancer has been suppressed for economic reasons.

I'm not against the pharma industry (my DH works for one!) but I think Mother nature sometimes can offer better things than a lab can! ;-)

Good luck with your FIL. I have just lost a good friend to the big C, though she managed to beat off the prognosis from 6 months to 10 years..

Thanks. I have been digging into your info and have seen the history benefits of Virgin coconut oil against cancer. You are a star! Let me see how best I can help my relative since he has already gone beyond the best treatments available on mother/father earth. All have failed to achieve any noble result.

I dont think alternative medicie is anything against pharma industry considering that more than 80% of active ingredients in artificial medicine have their origin in plants. Worse is antibiotics, all are plant origin.

Cheers, Copfum

My apologies I forgot to include the source of where I bought the magic Manuka Honey in Switzerland. Here it is and its post number 3 on the link:

Where to buy manuka honey in Zurich?

In case someboby wants to know more about it as well as buying it for themselves. Just know that the strongest which exist in Switzerland at the moment has a Unique Factor of 25+. The 25+ just means that its 25 times more effective in its efficacy than the normal honey. Of course one can also get the 30+ grade straight from New Zealand. I have not yet checked where in particular and also the reliability since there could be a tendency of some people selling something ingenuine.

Good luck, copfum
