London to Zurich

Hey EnglishForum

By way of an introduction, I'm a 28 year old Londoner moving to Zurich (Seefeld) for work at the end of the month and would love to meet people outside of the office to explore the city / socialise with.

Up for meeting anyone who fancies a drink or an adventure, but particularly interested in meeting those into music, gigs, festivals, etc.

Love a wide range of music - from indie to hip hop to alt country to pop to folk to dubstep - as well as all the usual stuff like cinema, galleries, museums, pubs, clubs, bars, eating out, sport, travelling.

Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Tom

Re: London to Zurich

Neat intro.

Welcome to the forum and Switzerland.

There's lots to do here and you won't be short of stuff with all your interests. Most, if not all, should be easily catered for as there's so much going on, especially in Zurich, places to go and hang out, sporting activities etc, etc.

A great way to get to meet others, many in similar positions to yourself, is to start attending social events organized by other forum members. Just put yourself down for any that interest you and go!

Also check out the sports and fitness section of the forum as well for what's occurring.

Have fun and welcome once more.

Cheers.

Re: London to Zurich

Hi Tom

I'm roughly your age and have similar interests (music, pubs/bars, festivals, beers at the lake, bbqs etc), be assured: Zürich is pretty good in summer, no worries there. Feel free to drop me a PM when you're here, I can show you around the city if you like (I'm also a couchsurfer and often host visitors)

Simon

Re: London to Zurich

Hey Tom and all of the other new Zurich people.

I'm a 29 year old Dubliner moving to Zurich in 3 weeks also.

Really into gigs too and Zurich seems to get a lot of good bands in.

Would also be up for meeting any of you folks for a beer or something.

Cheers

Dan

Re: London to Zurich

Hey Dan

Saw your post about Wilco in Basel. Long way off, but really hoping to go to that!

How come you're moving to Zurich?

Re: London to Zurich

Hey Tom

Have been living in Basel for the last year but my job has moved to Zurich now.

Wilco are awesome live so will be defo heading along to that one.

If you are in to gigs this website gives a pretty good idea of what's coming up in Switzerland. Not as many good gigs as London but a few decent ones coming up.

Would any of you newbies be up for arranging some beers at some stage next month? It would be nice to get to know some people in Zurich.
