New in Lausanne with three small boys

Hi! My husband and I just moved to Lausanne with our three boys, ages 2.5, 6, and 8. We're looking to meet other families in the area so I have some moms to talk with and the boys have other kids to play with!

I'm from Chicago and my husband is from Toronto, and I love being so near to mountains and the lake. We're excited to do some traveling and to integrate ourselves into the Lausanne community.

Send me a PM if you are interested in perhaps meeting up for a playdate!

Re: New in Lausanne with three small boys

welcome patricia!

lausanne is a great place for kids, so much to do and lot's of parks and events happening. chances are hanging out at the park at ouchy, mont repos or parc de milan and you'll be meeting other mama's in no time!

and once school ends (july 1st- yay!) we'll be out and about at the pools and beach so feel free to get in touch with any questions or if you wanna meet up!
enjoy!

I would not be concerned about the 6 and 8 years old boys finding other kids to play with. They will speak French in no time

A most warm welcome Patricia! My "tinies" are now young adults, but I just wanted to say that I had the good fortune to live in your home town, Chicago, and consider it to be one of the most magical cities on this planet!

I'm sure you and your boys will soon meet up with other like-minded people. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Switzerland!

Re: New in Lausanne with three small boys

Hi Patricia

A delightful thing to do for the family is walk from Ouchy (which is south Lausanne, next to the lake) to Lutry, and have a coffee/tea/hot chocolate near/on the port.

Its all pedestrian walk way and no cars starting from the Lausanne/Paudex demarcation line.

There is a fine playground park in Pully right on the walk, the town before getting to Lutry (well after Pully is Paudex). The train club should be in operation in Pully park. Proper steam engine types, but small scale trains.

You can decide to walk back, or take the bus 9 back to Lausanne from Lutry. Be sure to check out reduction schemes for your kids for the public transport system (i.e. train, bus). Perhaps Lausanne Information at the train station would be a good place to start, or go to the train ticket office and enquire. Also for yourselves as adults.

Bonne chance

Tiny

Re: New in Lausanne with three small boys

Thank you all for your kind thoughts and helpful suggestions. We're already enjoying parks, pools, and beaches, and have met a few other families. I assume we'll meet more school-aged children once school lets out, and I still look forward to hearing from anyone else who is new (or not-so-new) to town and has primary-aged kids who'd like new friends!
