| | Moving Cornwall to Geneva
Hi there, I have been following this forum for a little while (since we decided to move about 3 months ago). Just thought I'd say hello. My boyfriend and I are moving from Falmouth to Puplinge (Geneva) next Tuesday, as he is taking up a new position with a company in Geneva, and I will be working from home with my current employer. Looking forward to the move - all go, go, go and exciting at the moment!
Sarah

Welcome to the forum. Cornwall and Geneva are similar in a couple of ways: 1. They are both tacked onto the end of the country and take ages to get anywhere else. 2. They are both very nice places. | The following 5 users would like to thank Deep Purple for this useful post: | |

Welcome to Geneva soon and wish you a smooth move.
I was once in Cornwall many, many years ago and think it's such a lovely corner of the world. We might go again next summer
Maybe I will ask for tips on nice landscape, cottages, beaches and the food of course - oh I just can't wait to be there. |

@ gynch ; Heehee, fortunately you'll be happy to know we're not true Cornish either (gotta be 6 generations south of Tamar, right?). I'm originally from Sussex, headed down to Cornwall for uni and 12 years down the line I'm still here, and my BF is from Bath originally... so alas we to are also emmits! But that at least means you're still keeping the Cornish at bay
@Deep Purple ; That's exactly why we want to move there - our orientation tours have been great - it seems like such a nice clean city very close to nature - just the way we like it . I think technically it'll take less time to get to Geneva than Cornwall for my family in Sussex (who are all fretting about my moving abroad - I have tried to reassure them in this way, but its not getting through so far!).

OK, so not only are VsGers taking over the EF, but the Cornish seem to be doing so as well. Born in Devon myself, but grew up in North Cornwall, Tintagel to be precise. |

I have only been to Tintagel/Boscastle once - its such a shame about the flooding there. I had a quick visit with my sister years ago an went to the Witch Museum - interesting - didn't go to the castle though!

If you have a central base you can see alot in a very small amount of time.

We live there and there are another 2 families moving there this Summer, one of which is from Cornwall

I have searched for any reference to Puplinge - but to no avail, lol! Probably too small - although it is on the main bus route into Geneva - lucky for us |

You are probably right. As a Sussex resident myself (Hastings) it takes me longer to get to Gatwick or London City (never mind getting to Cornwall) than to fly to Switzerland. |

I must admit I have been spoilt by being near the sea my whole life - so I am not the biggest fan (not that I don't like the beach - but I could forgo if neccessary). On the otherhand my BF loves the beach / water and was adamant that he wanted an apartment where we could 'open a gate at the bottom of the garden and walk into the lake' ... but after much persuasion that the cost would be silly money, I found a great place with a view of the mountains instead! I think he still wants to start a gig rowing club up though....
