New to Basel

Hi!

My name is Karol (which isn't an equivalent for "Carol", so I'm not a girl ) and I just moved from Cracow to Basel. I started reading EF about 3 months ago, when my Syngenta recruitment process started and now when I'm finally here I decided that it was high time to register and say hello and thank you for all the useful information that you keep providing. Thanks to you I came to Switzerland well prepared, with fear of Billag in my heart and recently developed flushing-after-10-pm-phobia

I hope that I'll be able to become a part of this great community

Cheers,
Karol

Welcome! I will also be in Basel at the end of the month, and starting at Syngenta in early August. Which bit of the company are you working in and how long are you here for?

Mike.

Hi Karol,

Welcome to Basel and to our community! I am Mary from France and have been living in Basel for a year and a half now. Like Mrichards said, you arrive here at the right time of the year!
Hope you'll enjoy the city!

Congrats! I hope our paths sometime soon in Basel. I just moved here a month ago and I still suffer from late-night-flush phobia!

Re: New to Basel

Thanks for all the replies guys! I thought that my thread was long gone in the depts of the EF and yet it is still standing
I'm really looking forward to meeting you during one of the EF events. In the meantime, I'm trying to figure out the less pleasant stuff related to my move, like permits, insurance, laundry rooms and recycling. I guess that my supply of duty free alcohol will run out before I have all these things covered. Especially that the more I think about recycling the faster it disappears... leaving me with another empty bottle to worry about

Pozdrowienia for all the polish guys here. I heard about the mafia and already met about 10 of its members in Syngenta Basel

Hi Mike! I'm working in finance/transfer pricing. My contract is for indefinite period, so I guess I'll stay for as long as I like it here

Re: New to Basel

Hi guys, hi karol,
I can't wait to join you all in Basel, I'll move in there at the end of August and starting my job September 1st. Super excited.
Karol, hope you know you can hop on the tram, cross the border and replenish your duty free alcohol supply rather easily
