I don't see what you mean

I think you can only point at the moment someone peaked when they have already lived their whole life and you can look back at it and say: "hey, that there, that was the peak!" So especially for youngsters, you shouldn't think they've already peaked cuz they might surprise you and peak higher still some time later.

Location ideas:
Bücheli Bar on Steinvorstadt or Cafe Des Arts at Barfüsserplatz
-Both Swiss

Red Rocks, Pickwicks or Paddy's
-Expat bars (2 at heuwagge one on Steinvorstadt)

River on the Kbasel side- pick a spot, byo, and see where it leads

Lange Erlen at the weise river for a bonfire and a good time (could be difficult for ppl to find but with mobiles and good directions should be fine)

Those are the first places i can think of. Depends what kind of an intro you are planning to make!

I wanted to create an event but due to the restrictions for new members I have to wait another couple of days before being able to post it. And I would like to post it asap because it's not gonna be an event for late August when I come for real in Basel but an event for next week... Anyway, maybe by posting it so late not a lot of people will show up, but maybe I can already build it up a bit.

The event will be called: "Orientate me" (cuz I'll be having my Orientation tour and I need orientation^^) and it will be on Friday the 22nd of July, from 21.00. Among the places JustRose mentionned in her post, I think an expat bar would be most appropriate atmosphere-wise as I'm not ready to take on the Swiss on their home turf just yet.

I will be pleased to meet other members of the EF community, in particular those that have been so kind as to wish me welcome. Cheers!

I haven't participated in any EF event no far (yes, I know, shame on me ), I don't start many threads, don't comment too much but... I spend hours every single day here And I asked myself: "what the hell, why haven't I participated in any EF social events so far?!" and I felt motivated enough after your post to take this challenge So... count me in

Back on topic... looking forward to the meetup with newbies and the rest of you! I suggest a mini pub crawl of expat pubs if thats where you want to go! Will check the plan next week. Until then...

I'd be totally in for an event next week too! I'd been meaning to create one but too busy travelling around to find time :s
For the location i have some additional proposals:
City Beach in Messeplatz can also be fun if the weather is nice
Kabar in the Kaserne for a more alterntive scene
Ono delhi café bar in Leonhardsgraben
Manger & boire, not too far from Café des arts actually but can't remember the address and too lazy to google it

Chill Am Rhy is the perfect place if the weather is bright and sunny.

City Beach is also good, as is the outdoors patio for Acqua (may need reservation tho).
