Brasserie Lorraine, Quartiergasse 17, 3013 Bern.
This is the place I was thinking of. Maybe meeting at the main station then heading there would be easier.

Willkommen in der Schweiz Sofia. Hope you arrived safely. So 8 at the main station is still the plan. We could either walk or take a bus there (guess its all weather dependant) Also I found out its the places I wanted to go's 30th birthday so there are few things happening. I reckon it should be a fun night. The info is in the link.
Will PM you my number so we can coordinate.
See you later

its in german but maybe google translate will help.

I also moved here with the husband recently so it would be nice to meet other people in the area. We did the crazy tourist day in Bern recently which was fun but I would like to meet more people in the area.

Hey!!! Chocolate bear and I met yesterday. We waited for someone else to show up for about half and hour but nobody else came
We went to the english pub and then to the latin festival in front of Shakira discoteque.
The latin festival is free and continues today at 7 oclock. I would love to go again because there i feel like home hahahahahaha. So, if anyone ones to come with me today, please let me know!!!

Yo soy llegando a Berna jueves. Conozco un poco la ciudad al nivel turístico pero vivir aquí seria un nuevo desafío. Yo también soy abocado – con algunos anos de experiencia en ley de competencia.

Oh no! I feel bad now! Maybe put it as an actual event, and make it public so people can see it and join as well...I tend to think people feel more inclined to come, plus (like me....) will put it on a calender if it's an "event" as such. I also don't check my messages very often |

| | Drinks??
Buuuuuu!!! So the festival ended but I managed to go on saturday as well with some Australian guys!! And I showed them how to dance.
Even though I have already made some friends at my work (which I started on Monday), most of them live outside of Bern so they wont be around on the weekends. Maybe we could organice a meeting once again so we could have some drinks together.... what do you think????

I'm in! This past two weeks I worked so hard that it's not funny. I need a little drink. One beer will do, one beer I MUST have.

Hi Sofia
Welcome to Bern
If you want to practise spanish with a portuguese let me know
For learning German i can recomend you my school here in center of Bern http://kurse.vhsbe.ch/.
I will be leaving Switzerland soon in 2 months, but if you need help on something send me a message and im happy to help. Did you find a flat already? Im trying to rent mine and is facing the Aare .
Do you like swiming? If not already you need to query on the Aare, the river crossing Bern where a lot of people go for a swim in high speed waters no matter which temperature we have outside..

a.contardi,
Sorry to hijack your message, but I am looking for a work hour friendly volkschule for German. I heard about this one before but don't know if it's good, so it's good to learn that you recommend it. I'll stop by them on Monday to check it out. But I am very anxious to know whether they hold weekend classes or late night classes.
Thanks.

Hi Bettomor,
All the VHSBE classes are listed, with days and times, on their website (linked above) but it's a little hard to see where to go from the front page, perhaps. You have to click on "kommunikativ" and then "Deutsch als Fremdsprache". Or try this link: http://kurse.vhsbe.ch/?m=4&s=410
A lot depends on the individual teacher, but on average I like the Volkshochschule best for German lessons in Bern, having tried a few places. You can also try the Migros Klubschule or Inlingua, though Inlingua are considerably more expensive.
Good luck!
W.

Thank you!! I think I can work with the class by Sylvia Rüttimann. Do you happen to know if this teacher is good? If not, I guess I'll just have to take my chances with her. :-) Again, thanks!
