Moving to Baden in September 2011

Hi everyone,

I'm moving from Chicago to the Baden area in September for work. I'm apartment hunting online, and would appreciate any tips. I lived in Austria for two years, but I'm finding there are plenty of differences between these two countries!

I'm moving to Switzerland alone, and would also appreciate any tips/ideas/suggestions on meeting new people in the area.

Thanks!

Kelly

Re: Moving to Baden in September 2011

Comparis.CH was really helpful when we moved in the area a few
Months ago. The iPhone app is especially good.

Within Baden there is a decent expat community, courtesy mostly of ABB. I always English spoken when I walk through, especially near Pickwick's. Also, one can attend EF events.

But really, when it comes to meeting people and making friends, let me know what you find. We could use some help on that front, too.

Hi Kelly,
Try www.homegate.ch to find apartments in the area.

Also taxes vary from village to village so there is a Tax Calculator( Steuerrechner) on the website. The website is in
English as well as German.

Hi Kelly - Not sure if you are here yet. We moved in September from the States as well. If you are still looking to get connected let me know - I am looking for the same and would be happy to have coffee or a glass of wine with you!

Apartment hunting could be quite a challenge, check with your HR if they can provide a relocation agency to help you find an apartment. Welcome to Baden!
