| | I need my son to start school in Lugano. Anybody knows about EU15?
Please help! Are 51C outside!....
I have a EU passport (Romanian) and I know about EU15. I can get a residence permit (B Type) as a mother who wants raise her child in CH. I would like to move in Lugano where I have a friend. My son next year will start 1st grade. I need to move before that for him to learn Italian. I can get the residency with 300K CHF in my savings account.
Q: If I register my son with a private school do I need residency?

There is a very effective search facility on this forum and there is a whole section concerning permits and visas. See here...

You should speak to the swiss embassy/consulate general that is relevant - I think you would have more success from the Romanian one.
Can you get out of Saudi and back to Romania, and then into Switzerland from there ? With a Romanian passport you can come into Switzerland without any problems as a 'tourist'. Although you might have to go back to Romania to sort out some paperwork, it should be straightforward.
Under the new rules, it's very easy (I have a friend/colleague who has come in/out over the past two years). If you come in as a tourist, on your Romanian passport, then no problem...

I left Romania 10 years ago. I live 7 years in Canada where I had my son born. My husband is working in oil business and we move in Saudi from Houston. I need a place to settle for my son school...and for my sanity and Saudi in not the right place for us.
I can stay with Romanian passport but my son cannot go to school?!?!

I stayed in Italy for 1 year and when I asked the residency they did not sked about my son passport.
I don't know if I can come as a tourist if I can put my son in a school....pribate because the public for sure is asking for residency!

The simplest way would be for him to get a romanian passport, I think.
You should check with the swiss consulate general in Bucharest. They can sort it out for you and tell you what the easiest way is to solve the problem...
If you get approved as a resident, your son should be listed as a dependant. With a Canadian passport, you might need to show something that proves legally that you can take your son into europe. Basically, you might come up against 'child kidnapping rules' - if you are bringing your son and not the father, then you may need something to show that you have permission to do the move...but if you have court orders giving you custody, or a signed letter from the father saying that it's all OK, then that may be all that is needed...

If your son is not entitled to a Romanian passport, there is a procedure for that...it will be OK!
From what i have heard, Saudi is a shocking place to live and work, even if you get paid millions for being there...can you go back to Canada in the interim ?

My son has a Romanian birth certificate and I can get a romanian passport . Canada is too far for us now and my husband is based here with his job. Lugano will be closer and also my son can go to a school to learn italian.
We were planning to come in Lugano in Dec and open a bank account and see some places to live....but is too far away 5 mo.
Also my son is starting K here in Sept. and this is happend I need to move him again....

So, I recommend that you email or telephone the Swiss consulate general in Romania and ask them if you can apply for residency with the amount of money that you have. Getting a job for your husband would also be a good step - that's not so hard if he has Romanian papers...
There's more than one way to do this, but the procedure I know would be to get residency for you and your son and husband based on the cash in the bank and wanting to come for educational purposes, and then see what they say - having a job offer in Switzerland would make the whole thing easier - the employer has to show that they cannot find someone in Switzerland to do to the job...that can take a few months...

Do I need to show them a huge savings account or they would accept the permanent income that my husband is having in Saudi? He can provide for us on mothly basis an amount that we can have a decent life in Lugano.
No need to my husband for a job in CH he has a very good one here in Saudi.
