Admittedly a bit complicated with the dog but should be manageable. For the beach, best bet is either the Bains-des-Paquis or one of the nice places up in Nyon.

To put it a bit more simply, inside homes it is practically always drinkable, at public fountains it may be of doubtful quality but generally alright and definitely not dangerous. We did drink from public fountains in Zurich as teenagers all the time and never had problems

I know every one stereo types them to being killers but I have trained my dog to love children and other small animals she baby sitted a kitten once... and loves my nieces and nephews aged 1-9... she is completely harmless and a very loving family dog....
is it allowed? cos there on the dangerous dogs list... though there is a chance of my dog being attacked by a poodle...

It's a bit far... but some of us EF members are getting together for paintball on August 6th. Unfortunately... the event is going to be in Upper Lake Zurich, which would be quite the hike for you. Well, it's going to be there unless we can find something more central. Anyway, check out the event: Paintball (or the shoot your EF buddies) Event II
Good luck with getting settled in! | Quote: | | | | | I am clearly a newbie here!!! Just moved in to Geneva day before yesterday and was browsing around and stumbled in on to your little forum/community... Which i must say its pretty useful and awesome...
I was asked to make an introduction in the customary manner so here goes...
Name is Mark moved here in with my wife she is a diplomat and I am what you may call diplomatic baggage...
So while she goes to work I have pretty much nothing to do... 30yrs old!!! technically, almost a month more to go before I hit the big 30!!!
Struggling with the language, missing my Dog, Bike & Beach back home....
Likes: Making friends & pretty much anything thats fun... from running to riding to paintball whatever u got I am game...
Well thats about it... So, Hi There... | | | | | |

welcome! don't worry, you'll get more and more comfy with the public transport system, it's quite easy but more the actual first few times of unknown that are hard- we've all been there! i'm not sure about activities in geneva, but i know there are some running clubs here in lausanne, open air movies and lot's of things going on, especially in the summer. i'm sure there is a ton in geneva too.
if your bored and have nothing to do, i'd suggest taking the train somewhere close on your own as a start. when i first got to lausanne i would just ride the bus, hahahhaha, and get on and off randomly to figure out the town a bit and see what was around. it helped me situate myself a lot.
best of luck, and if you make it out this way feel free to pm me and we'd be happy to meet for a drink!

I suggest the "Police Cantonal" as dogs are Cantonal-matter. If you have their "wisdom", next stop will be the customs-office at the airport and the veterinary-office at the airport

Hey.... the intro thread really did take off
Welcome Mark.
Do register your dog, they are very touchy here about certain species as there have been some unfortunate issues. There's a law specifically in Geneva about muzzles.
kind regards,
