100th post without an introduction...

I just realised (ok, not really just now, but I did at some point) that I can't remember actually introducing myself on the forum. This usually earns a stern rebuke from certain members, so here is my introduction post just in case.

I moved to Switzerland almost two years ago, and started reading EF even before I moved here from Edinburgh. Obviously, things like EF and the other expat social events make it a lot easier to settle into a new place - I even wonder if it would be as easy moving within Scotland or elsewhere in the UK.

The reason for me moving was a new job, which is (vaguely) tax related, as you might guess since most of my posts are in the Finance/Banking/Taxation sub-forum.

I found my first place to stay in Switzerland; a sublet for a week in Thalwil; on the forum, but otherwise I moved here for my new job without any housing arranged - I was so confident of the housing section on EF that I believed I could find somewhere to live right away! That all worked out ok.

Now, two house moves (and a few EF events) later, I'm quite settled here, though I still find Swiss German mostly incomprehensible. Hopefully my next hundred posts take less than 18 months to accumulate too.

For all those that I haven't met yet, see you at KFC next weekend.
