Just thought I should register and introduce myself seeing as I have been using this wonderful site on and off since March.

My name is Phill, I'm a 29 year old computer programmer and while I am currently still in the UK, I'm looking to move to the Geneva area (well St Genis / Ferney Voltaire area of French border or Geneva) as soon as I find suitable employment.
I have visited Geneva and Basel several times (my brother and his fiancee have lived in Geneva for the last 10 years) over the years and love the lifestyle and scenery. I cannot tell you how inviting the Jura looks when you are into hiking ;-)

I'd just like to thank all the contributors to this site for all the wonderful info and advice they have amassed and all the hours of stress they have saved, I'd have felt rather stupid asking my brother a million questions by email. If I can help in anyway I will try.

Welcome to the forum. There are at least a couple of us from Staffs here although we come from the slightly less desirable end.... If you love the outdoors then you're going to have a great time here.

Lived in Cheshire for a few years before the move to Switzerland so not too far from Staffordshire. Lovely part of the country. We much preferred being in the northwest to being down near London.

Well judging by all the Staffs expats it sounds like I can set up an oatcake business if nothing else comes up

I'm currently back in Stoke, where I grew up, but went to Staffs Uni in Stafford and lived there after uni, I actually had a place a mile from Cannock Chase so was up there every weekend.
I've also spent a year living in Herrenberg, near Stuttgart which is a fantastic little place.
I absolutely adore Geneva and the local area though, especially Annecy and as I am a bit of a science / CERN fan having that on the doorstep is a major plus (have had a few tours).

Thanks for all the supportive messages and its great to know I wont be the only midlands export.
