Moving to Switzerland

Hi.
My name is malynda, I will be moving to switzerland most likely Geneva in March 2012 or sooner. Im hoping if anyone can give me a heads up on a lot of things just to get me started.
More infor:
My name is Malynda
Im from the solomon Islands, south pacific.
Im married to a swiss.
Dont speak french but Im trying at the moment
My mother Tongue is English and Im fluent in Verbal and written Japanese
Ive lived abroad in a handful of different countries so Immigration and adjusting to the climate I have no problem.
My biggest worry is the fact that Im from the south Pacific and Im sure its rare to see people from this far out in Switzerland.
Im trying to do further studies hopefully in IGU or University of Geneva (if my french miraculously improved)

any infor will be much appreciated.

Thank you

Hello naolanaola,

Welcome to the forum. I do believe that you will have no problems adjusting to Geneva. You will find that Geneva is quite a heterogeneous society.

Good luck in you upcoming move.

You will not have any problems adjusting here, you will have a blast. Learning French, though, is a great idea. We live in Zürich, my wife travels to Geneva a lot, and she says French is widely spoken there and is learning it.

Hi Malynda,

I don't think you have to worry where you are from. In this part of switzerland you can find about every nationality. It is very international and I am sure you might even find people from the same part where you are from. You never know. There are also lots of Japanese people here so you might be able to use the language -
I am sure you will have a great time here!

Re: Moving to Switzerland

Hi Malynda,

I wish you a good start in Switzerland. I have seen photos of solomon Islands and it is really beautifull. After living a couple of months in Swizerland next year, let us know, please, if you miss solomon Islands
