Hello from holland....

Hi all,

I'm a kiwi guy currently living in the Netherlands but planning on moving to Switzerland in the first half of 2007 (along with my scottish wife, 1 year old daughter and Jack Russell dog).

Been doing quite of bit of research about living/working in Switzerland recently and have got loads of valuable info from these forums...

A bit about me... I left New Zealand 6 years ago and spent a couple of years living in the UK (London / Glasgow) and loads of travelling before moving to Holland a few years ago. We've had a great time living here but my wife and I are both ready for a change and, after a lot of thinking, we've decided on Switzerland. We spent a week in Switzerland earlier this month and that sealed our decision -- we both love the outdoors (hiking, skiing, mountain biking) and are really looking forward to exploring more of the beautiful Swiss outdoors.

I work in IT (Software Testing / Business Analysis) and am planning on living in the Zurich area. Am busy trying to learn German at the moment so am sure I will make loads of use of the Language Corner over the next few months!

Corran

Hi corran,

Sorry that nobody has welcomed you yet, I'm sure they are just busy Glad to hear you are investing the time on the language before you get here - it will be a big help! Maybe you'll time you arrival just in time for ski season - enjoy it while you can - looks like this global warming lark isn't going to help our mountains...

Hi Corran,

I'm a Kiwi from Timaru who has lived in Switzerland for 8 years all up and was married for 26 years to a Swiss (just became an Ex! YAY!). Am flying back to NZ on Tuesday, but welcome anyway to CH, and to let you know there is a Kiwi expat group www.nzclub.ch here. All the best of luck with you new life in this scenic country!

Hi... the only expat forum I've used in Holland is www.expatica.com

It was useful for information but there was no sense of community and there was a lot of negativity and whinging posters. I haven't been there much in the past 4 years so perhaps it's improved.

Good luck in the move to Holland. I'm still here - we had another child in 2007 so decided to stay put for a while. I hope your move goes well and that you enjoy it here - IMO it's a great place to live.

Feel free to message me if there's specific things about Holland you'd like to discuss.

Corran
