From my small memory base, marmots are generally mountainous creatures, where woodchucks are generally lowland dwellers.
Nonetheless, all woodchucks are marmots (but not all marmots are woodchucks).

Yeah, tell me about it......old men sleep all day
Only when we've been "busy" all night. (Or so I understand, anyway - I'm married so obviously I don't know anything about it.)

Marmots are a genus: marmota

Woodchucks are a species: marmota monax

Ergo, woodchucks are a species of marmot.

Thus, all woodchucks are marmots (but not all marmots are woodchucks).

Excellent! Well done.

So thus can we conclude there are no Swiss woodchucks?

Re: Swiss girl suffering from itchy feet

You're making me late for my appointment, but I'm having fun reading your thread. Serious question-if someone has an opportunity to move to lake Tahoe (Nevada side) should they go? Isn't it all casinos and dirt poor locals away from the resort areas?

Native, no, but that doesn't preclude immigrant or ex-pat woodchucks!
