New in Zürich

Hey all,

I'm an American in my early 30s who's married to a guy from Zürich. Our primary residence is in New York City, but it looks like we may start coming here fairly regularly for month+ chunks of time thanks to his job. I love his parents & his friends, but since I don't yet know more than a handful of German words (and Swiss-German? Oy, forget about it!), I was grateful to find a forum filled with English speakers!

Re: New in Zürich

Welcome Lydian!

I'm also from NYC and happily married to a Swiss (Zürcher) for 20+ years and have 2 girls 18 + 20. I did have an advantage that I spoke fluent high German (from childhood on).

If you're interested, why not sign up for the annual "Living in Zurich Course" from the Amer. Women's Club of Zurich which will start on Fri., Oct. 19 till Nov. 16 (5 consecutive Fridays in a row). If you can't attend the course, you can buy the useful guidebook. Go to www.awczurich.org for additional infos on the course and to order the book.
