Arriving in Basel in a few weeks :-)

Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to introduce myself!

I'm Carrie and I'm originally from Scotland.

Ive been working in North Germany for the past year and I will be moving to Basel in a few weeks to take a permanent job there.

Unfortunately i will be on my own for a while until my husband can come and join me for good!
I have been researching information on the EF for a while and have found it instrumental in helping me decide to make the move!

Thanks to all for your useful comments and links!
I hope and look forward to meeting new friends and getting settled in! Cheers

Welcome to the forum, from a fellow Scot.
Whereabouts in Scotland are you from originally?

And good luck with your upcoming move.
I am sure you will like Basel - but prepare yourself for the difference in the German spoken here compared to the North of Germany!

Re: Arriving in Basel in a few weeks :-)

Ah Hello Foxinthesnow!
Thank you for the welcome
I was born on the west coast near Helensburgh, then grew up on the east near Stirling. Where are you from originally?
I moved away when i was 17 to join the Navy, hence the screen name!
My German is terrible so i hope to improve on it, so it may not matter at all.
I hope i like Basel it seems like a nice place to live, are you living there?
Thanks again

Re: Arriving in Basel in a few weeks :-)

I'm from the East myself - Edinburgh born, but raised in Dunfermline, where my family still all live. I was working and living in Edinburgh though before I moved out here.
I now live just outside of Basel, in Binningen (which although is in another canton, is pretty much joined onto Basel). I work in Basel itself though.

Anyway, let us know if you have any pre/post move questions, which you haven't found answers to elsewhere.

Craig

Welcome!

I went to Edinburgh last april and I simply loved it!
I don't think Basel can match Edinburgh (for what I have seen from Basel so far), but however have a good time!
