New to Basel

Hi everyone
I wanted to introduce myself. I've just arrived in Basel to take a new job with one of the large multinationals here. I've been been picking up many useful tips from the forum for the last few weeks, so thanks everyone already.

I am British, from London, male, just turned 30. I am a keen skiier, enjoy cycling and the outdoors, music (jazz and classical as well as more mainstream) and I am always up for going out for a couple of beers!

I am looking forward to remembering my GCSE German from school and meeting lots of new people. Would be great to get together with some of the other newbies in Basel perhaps, as I've seen lots of similar posts to this over the last few days.

Cheers!

Re: New to Basel

Welcome to Basel. The outdoor life - walking, cycling, hanging out by the river - is one of the best things about Basel. Lots of free music as well - we're not into Jazz and there is A LOT of that! But other stuff is there if you look hard enough. This Sunday is a Charity running event - Run to the Beat - with live music dotted around the course.

Re: New to Basel

Hi Blaster

Welcome to Basel!

if your GCSE German fails you, you can always take private or small group lessons with me. Learning German with me will be faster and more convenient than signing up for a course at a language school. Private lessons are held in Kleinbasel (5 minutes from Novartis), small group lessons can be held either in Kleinbasel or at people's work place. Private message me if you would like to know more.

Re: New to Basel

Hey all,

I've recently arrived in Basel (1 week officially here!) . My boyfriend has recently started working at Carlsberg and I'm on the job hunt, and we'd both be interested in attending any newbie events! PM me if something is going on.
