I am moving to Switzerland from L.A. Can anybody recommend a reliable shipping/moving company that is not super expensive (I have to pay for myself). Thanks, guys!

Way back in '96 I moved from LA to London and used this company.

It was a paid for move, so I can't say how competitive their prices are (can't even remember the overall cost), but they're still in existence, so they must be reasonably OK.

This might not help, but I used Welti-Furrer (paid for by my company) to move from California to Zürich in 2009. They broke one of the wooden bed slats on my twin bed and didn't reimburse for damages because I hadn't paid for insurance. And for some weird reason, I thought insurance would have been covered, because I work for an insurance company!

But, as they delivered the boxes, I unpacked everything and broke down the boxes and put them outside my door. And they hauled everything away so I wasn't left with a bunch of moving boxes to get rid of.
