Re: Greek looking to relocate

Hi Despina! I would love to be part of the Greek hub in Switzerland!
Well, I am quiteopen regarding the field, as my background is quite diverse and as a person I was always keen to take on new challenges when asked. I have obtained a BSc inMarketing and an MSc in Management of Training and Development from BritishUniversities and an MBA from a Greek University. I have 5 years mixed experience in marketing, employee development and project management in the area of European funded projectsfor public, private and civil society organizations, that is, writing proposals and implementing projects inareas such as employment, social cohesion, the environment, and technology. Ihave mostly worked in the consulting sector but I also worked in the publicsector in the UK. I speak Greek andEnglish fluently, and my level of French and Italian should be good (notfluent) once I practice the languages. I am always open to learning new skills.

Re: Greek looking to relocate

I guess the most valuable advice I could give after 500 CV submissions is "don't give up"! You may need to suffer 499 rejections before the 1 positive answer you are looking for..! :P
I have no idea of the Swiss market yet (job market included) but the people here are ready to help in any questions you may have. Just make sure you have done your own search cause otherwise some get a little angry! :P

Well, your background will certainly help you find a good job eventually...just not right away (unless you're really lucky!). Just hang in there! I am currently also in the looking-for-a-job phase, although my background is completely different and a lot trickier than yours, and I have to say..just don't give up!

Re: Greek looking to relocate

Hi Epag, thank you! I am checking monster.ch however, I find that not speaking French or German fluently is a problem. I will keep trying and hopefully, I will eventually land in Switzerland.

Have you done your research properly? Excursions, maybe, but food and wine?

Hmm! Areyou implying that the food and wine are not good in Switzerland? I didn’t say that I am coming to Switzerland to get food and wine. I said that I enjoy it,in general!

He is probably implying that they are both unreasonably pricey. Seriously, going out for dinner will be a shock! You will soon enjoy eating only what you've cooked yourself :P!

Re: Greek looking to relocate

hello there fellow greek! as others said, don't give up! also, are you looking only in switzerland? if you definately want to leave greece perhaps you should not restrict yourself to looking to one country only
while looking maybe you could take advantage of the time passing by having some german lessons?
good luck!

I would not look for an accounting/financial position anywhere out of Greece.
I doubt if there is any demand for those.

Something else you need to be aware of is that the rest of the EC generally deduct and pay tax.

Another thing is that you will more than likely have to work until you are at least 66 in the EC. I know this would come as a shock to a Greek

This joke is not funny anymore....and so untrue for the majority of Greek people!
