Its taken a few months but i'm finally here and i'd like to thank everyone on the forum for the posts and responses. I look forward to meeting people, so if anyone is around this weekend or there are any EF events i'd like to go please.

Newcastle sure ain't London, i know Switzerland is expensive but CHF1.35 for a mars bar!!!!! I still love it, looking forward to my new job on Monday.

The first thing you need to do is stop converting back to pounds.

Look at the cash in your hand - do you have enough for a Mars bar? Yes? Then buy a Mars bar.

Then eat it, smug in the knowledge that it would be an expensive treat for any of your compatriots paid in their own currency...

Beer is cheaper than Mars bars though.

Good point by DB - as long as you keep converting prices back into pounds, you will carry on being shocked. Forget pounds and focus on what things cost versus what you're earning, you will probably find that you're better off here than in the UK.

Oh, and good luck with your first day in the new job !

Hi all, thank you for the responses, found an apartment in move in tomorrow and start work on Monday. Haven't tried cafe du cert yet I will tomorrow I think but I'm also going to salsa tomorrow night.

I'm making do with move pick ice-cream forget the mars bars!
