Greek/Italian family moving to Zurich

Hi all!

My family and I are moving soon in Zurich. My husband is Italian and I'm from Greece and currently we are living in Athens planning to move soon in Zurich since my husband has recently accepted a position there. The moving plan is still not finalized since I'm at the final stage of my second pregnancy - we already have a 2 1/5 years old daugher.

The last few months I've found some very interesting & useful information in the EF such as the cost of living, opinion on the different "kreis" in Zurich & where to find Greek yogurt!

I guess I will also come with my own questions soon, especially after we actually move there.

Thank you all!

Re: Greek/Italian family moving to Zurich

Kalws tnv, welcome to the forum and to Switzerland, and all the best for the last part of your pregnancy and the time thereafter.

My advice is, forget Greek yoghurt outside Switzerland. As I mentioned on the Greek yoghurt thread, no factor-made yoghurt available here can bear the comparison with home-made Greek yoghurt, i.e. properly strained instead of just adding cream.

Make your own is all I can say. But please don't hang those bags on the clothes line in the shared laundry room. Maybe you already saw those threads about how pedantic the Swiss can be in such matters. It's not a myth. I'm Swiss, and I can confirm those rants.

Re: Greek/Italian family moving to Zurich

Hi epag!

This would be fantastic!
I'm pleased to see that there is a big Greek community in Zurich.
Due to the pregnancy and the new baby coming I don't see myself moving before February. But, to be honest I'm really looking forward into moving to the new "phase of our life".

Hi Minoan! We are Greeks as well leaving just outside Zurich. We have two daughters 2 and 3,5 years old. It would be nice to meet with other Greek people and have the kids speak their mother language.
