| | New in Thalwil Hi all, Well a short introduction, as I am moving to Thalwil with my husband next week and, honestly, we are really keen on it. We loved Thalwil from the beginning, but got advised that getting a nice flat there was something almost impossible, so we forgot about it. At the end and quite surprisingly we got a nice flat in Thalwil, so we are very glad about it. My husband is Swedish and I am Spanish and we hope we find in Thalwil a place where we can enjoy and feel at home, even when you are “not at all at home”… (Btw, it was very nice and helpful reading you over the past years, until we finally made our move to ZH. So thanks for all the information you posted here over the years…) | This user would like to thank Moleculaaburrida for this useful post: | |

Hi, and welcome to both the EF & Switzerland!! I live near Thalwil (just over the ridge beside the Sihl, really) and while I'm not overly familiar with Thalwil the general feel of the area on my side of the ridge is one of multicultural comfort ... I mean, I can walk to both a Portguese and an Indian/Sri Lankan grocery store! I especially like the opening hours of the Indian/Sri Lankan one (Mon - Sat, 10:00 - 22:00!).
Get into the Social Events thread and find out what's happening around the place, I'm sure you'll find something nearby that grabs your fancy!

They do some great curry pastes. I followed the directions on one, and it blew the heads off the kids and our Romanian guest. Even I found it exciting! I think it's called Krone Lädeli - they have 5kg bags of Basmati rice, as well, which we buy regularly, and milk and so on ... good for emergencies, but they don't have a full range of stuff.
Oh, did I mention they also have good ginger beer? Elephant ginger beer, good stuff!

I've only been in there once, to get some cold Sagres (when I somehow managed to run out!). The sign is red, on top of an earth bank (opposite the reformed church's Gemeindehaus (community hall) and playground).
