Hi, I'm not that new to Switzerland (been here a few years) and have been lurking the forum for a year or so. For some reason I felt moved to reply to a thread yesterday, so I thought I best post an intro.

I'm a Dane who grew up in Africa, then studied and worked in England. Having spent some time at CERN while doing my doctorate, I was pleased to have the opportunity to relocate to Geneva.

Figuring out life here has been a challenge, but then coming from SA I also had to figure out life in the UK, which was even more of a challenge. So I find the complaints/rants section of the forum especially interesting.

Still doing my doc, it's infinite, but thinking of putting a study group together, just to get give and get support. Phinished.org is awesome, but real folks nearby better.

Don't be shy and post, people who have been here for some time usually have a lot to contribute.

Well, everything, to be honest. Stereotyping that I must be a racist (both approving and disapproving, interestingly). Sneering at my accent. Bank machines where the only possible transaction was to draw cash (this has changed somewhat since then). Railway staff who seemed unable to tell trains apart. The fascination with Guinness.

Wouldn't bother me if you did. It's good to hear about the negatives and the positives of all countries - including my own.
