Hi!
I have discovered this amazing forum few days ago. And I find it extremely helpful for start and surviving in new country. New environment, no friends,..you know what I mean. I moved near Geneva two months ago with my girlfriend. Now trying to learn French language (have never done before ) and trying to find some job. I have worked as IT, bud it is really hard to find something in Geneva without French language. If you know about something (c# involved, or just IT support) let me know! I have sent many CVs but without any replay
But I was disappointed with amount of members from Geneva region. Everybody here is mostly from Zurich area. It's time to spread this forum to the west
I am still amazed by the country, its marvellous. Ideal for cycling, hiking, or just enjoying those views. I like the people here, food, houses, language..really nice place to live your live.
I have many questions, but I will use the search function first, so bye for now!

Welcome Tomas. There is life in Geneva - just! Why not start a Saturday coffee morning meet up?

Re: tomas

Hello and welcome to the Forum. There are a lot of people in the Romandie area but they're all eating garlic as they would apples and sleeping in the afternoon. Honestly!

As mentioned, how about arranging a simple coffee morning? A lot of people view but are shy of arranging such an event on the social calendar. Bring a newspaper and the worst that can happen is you read the paper and drink a coffee on your own. Which is better than eating raw garlic...

2 Sbrinz: sorry to react so late - I didn't expect that quick answer . You are working probably, so you are free only on weekends, am I right?
2 Uncle Max: I am thinking about setting up an event to know some garlic people... Just have to check the date with my girlfriend's diary.

looking forward to the Garlic meeting!

Thomas

welcome to the forum and to the comminity in Geneva.

I lived in Geneva for two years before moving to Central Switzerland. I like it a lot and I can assure you, there are many very nice people around Geneva with whom you could socialise.

I believe, if I read it correctly, that starting a Saturday morning coffee meet up was not a date proposal, it was a proposal to become active and to start up a group. But I may be wrong.

So, my suggestion is, find a place you like on a Saturday morning for coffees (or evening for drinks), announce the event in the forum and have fun :-)

Good luck!
