| | Geek, new to Basel
Hello everyone,
Just started work in Basel (seems popular this month on the forum!)
Was wondering if there were any geeks about for gaming activities, or if anyone can suggest a club, group, society, usw. There was a never-ending supply of nerds in Cambridge..

Which Cambridge do you come from (US or UK)? I know that the US one has an adequate supply of nerds, and suspect that the UK one also does | This user would like to thank RetiredInNH for this useful post: | |

Given the Geek in the title I would suspect Silicon Fen rather than Mass. Depends what sort of gaming you mean, I play on a casual basis but would not profess any proficiency.
Though I did use to work in Milton

Welcome to Basel Nightwing, I recently moved here also and tried to set up a gaming evening (check my events) but unfortunately I had to change the date at short notice.
I would be up for a gathering.
I play most stuff, currently my favourites are Agricola and Puerto Rico.
Cheers

Awesome, replies!
I am from ye olde Cambridge, rather than the US variety.
My gaming experience is extensive, but I really enjoy the social side of things; chatting and teaching. I've run various roleplaying games (D&D, Cthulhu, Traveller, stuff I've made up..) over the years, and also played a large number of great (and awful) boardgames. Videogames aren't as social as they used to be (well, there's online stuff but that's not social).
So, yeah, I'd love a game of Agricola or the like. I don't have any material with me at the moment, though RPGs I can run from a laptop. I can't host until I've got a proper place to live either. So if you're organising, Freerad, then count me in!

Nightwing & co.,
I am also a recent arrival in Basel and seeking people who enjoying moving small pieces around a board according to arcane rules (German or RPG).
Is there a trial evening I could invite myself to? If not, I'll try and organize one...
Best,
Peter

I have just unpacked the complete AD&D collection of mine, including badly painted figurines, chinagraph, funny dice and hex paper, and... the uber rare Gods Demigods and Demons that was pulped owing to a slight copyright infringement with Random House.
I could be persuaded to run some sunday afternoon Beer and AD&D sessions

Judging by the time it took to get a reply, we probably have enough interest to do something. :-)
Maybe the next step is to get anyone interested together for a beer in a pub somewhere, get to know each other a bit, and figure out details?
I'll PM everyone who has indicated interest and try and get an email list going -- easier to do scheduling etc. If you want to be on it, either PM me or post interest.
