| | New to Switzerland
Hello everyone!
I am new to Switzerland, and I find the forum great and a must-read; to me it is my daily survival guide (as it even informs where to buy clotted cream!!)
I am now suggesting a lot of people at work (who are also new to the country) to have a look at the forum!
I'm moving to Schaffhausen, found it very cozy as the rest of the country!
Cheers!

Welcome Scones!!!
The EF has also been a life saver for me. Even if I'm not searching for anything, it's such a great place for a chat/banter.

Dear sconeswithjam, you are extremely fortunate that I have decided, after long consideration, not to ask you to change your User Name. It was a very near thing.
It is bad enough having 'Crumbs' reminding us of all the things we are missing but 'scones with jam' and then the mention of clotted cream in your first post is sailing very near the wind.
Please limit your posts to neutral topics such as rubbish disposal, troubles in the communal laundry and the Swiss Transport System so that I only have to point you in the direction of the relevant sticky and not actually reply to your posts in future. If you wish to complain about this post, please do it at four in the morning when vwild1 gets it in the neck and not me.

hi all thanks for the warm welcome - except for Longbyt! Joking.. thanks all of you, it is nice to hear some english words around (even if that is not my mother language but helps A LOT in here!)
Longbyt: I have actually some things to post on the "issues in the common laundry area" and the "swiss transport system" so will try to make me busy in those threads to not remind you of... the yummy hot scones... with clotted cream & jam.. in a yard in a nice cottage..
(ah, who is vwild1?)
miniMia and LouisaB: thanks!
MM&I and chivas: life saver yep, I always have a reference of the EF when someone at work is in doubt about some swiss-related issue. But I wasnt aware you could chat. Is that done via posts?

Hi & welcome to Switzerland & the EF!
Personally, I'd leave the jam out - I have my scones fresh & hot with butter & heaps of cream!

hi Swisscat and incaCU: thanks for the welcome!
Swiss: agree those are very weird scones, haha. Very close to what would be my portrait though
robyn.oz: it's brazilian portuguese (you can notice it from the "accent" that comes with the grammar errors! haha). But I lived in the UK before being transferred to here, when I got afficionated for sconesssss.. hmm (i start regreting for the name, it's Sunday morning and it'd be perfect to have some around, even if those wacky-looking ones from ashishshah!)
hi tequila911: great, thanks! will do! Ah, and welcome for you! which city you live?
araqyl: never tried with butter & clotted cream, but good quality jam still rulez! | This user would like to thank sconeswithjam for this useful post: | |

I have to say the first time I had scones I didn't quite "get it". But once someone prepared one for me properly with clotted cream & strawberry jam, that was it! I became afficionated, too. It's been a long time since I've had any. But oh, how yummy they were.
Must plan a trip to UK soon.
Anyway, bemvindo/a to the forum & good luck with your move to Switzerland.

I figured. Doesn't sound like a name a boy would pick. But I didn't want to presume!
Tchau!
