Dubious in Zurich

Hello,

My wife and I have been a couple months in Zurich now.

I wasn't going to do this at all, but Ouchboy has declared us dubious and asked us to please introduce ourselves here.

So hello everyone!

Re: Dubious in Zurich

Welcome to the Forum.

Ouchboy is right. It is a good idea to write an Introduction on here. New members who suddenly appear and write very short posts in all areas of the Forum are, by the Mods, not considered devious as such. They are, however, suspected of having tried to post an Ad in the Market Place, were unable to do so, read the rules and realised they have to do something about their 0 post count.

Far be it from me to be so suspicious of course.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Just remember, EF is not a useful resource for Swiss related issues, complaints, advertisements, or banter, it's a way of life.

If we think someone is trying hard, we give them the benefit of the doubt. If we just find someone trying, we delete the most idiotic of the posts.

You wouldn't believe the junk that gets posted when members want to sell/buy/look for a job. The same effect of reducing the post count again is achieved if threads are moved over to off-topic, which sometimes happens in all innocence.

Back on topic of new members: I expect you've seen the Events bit of the Forum if you are keen to meet up with other English Speakers. It can be fun once in a while.

I think it's EFiquette, certainly not netiquette.

I have not know any other online forum whereby there is an elite sect of users, whom dictate the use of the forum to others.

Did you see my EF experiment post?

I learned how the rep thing worked (special thanks to Phil) and, upon checking it out realised some of the elite sect I had suspected had bad rep'd me essentially for not agreeing with me, which is fine, but some of these was for essentially daring to reply to a post they had directed at me. They can patronise, or mock you, and you do it back and they get all upset and rep you. Fine, there is nothing wrong with that, we each have opinions. So, i decided to have a look at their recent posts and see what i disliked. Upon rep'ing them, each and everyone sent me a personal megh whining. I was in pieces, was hilarious.

Re: Dubious in Zurich

Moral of the experiment: be careful, if you dont like someones comment or have an opinion of your own that does not fit with theirs they will personally message you and try to intimidate you into daring to challenge their status.

I am getting the hang of all this EF now, quite addictive i must say

to be fair most forums with regulars who have little to do with their day behave like this. don't take it too seriously! I like it on here and the people are nice

That's total rubbish. I'm sending some people over to your place to explain it personally to you, until you get it.

Re: Dubious in Zurich

OK guys. I know that I am partly to blame for the, -er shall we say slightly off-topic, direction of this Introduction.

How about us all giving the guy another 'Welcome' and going off to eat a bite of supper - maybe tirami.. whatever it is called.

Thanks Longbyt. I was going to ask something along the lines of 'who are you people and what you are doing here' like in a nice joking way but you beat me to it.

It's called Tiramisu. Please send in your recipes. Did I mention that we watch Come Dine With Me constantly? There's nothing else to watch on BBC.
