Just moved to Zurich from Montreal!

Hey guys,

I just moved to Zurich from Montreal to work/learn at ETH. Really excited but at the same time overwhelmed at the moment. Also, I'm having trouble everywhere I go since I don't know German.

Hope that with the help of this site I can figure out everything that I need.

Re: OMFG... Just moved to Zurich from Montreal!

Welcome! We moved here from the Eastern portion of the U.S. - I was in total shock for about the first 8 weeks. You will slowly get used to things but that being said, we have only been her 12 weeks so what the hell do I know! Hang in there and use this forum for help. I would advise against 'complaining' here though b/c there are some grumpfish on here that will blast you and it doesn't feel good to be kicked while you are down. But, it can be a great place to learn about how to make life a bit less painful and, God forbid - fun while you are here.

If I can ever be of assistance to you, please feel free to PM me.

I still think that English Forum should organise Fresher kinda party for the new comers... Haven't shaved someone's goolies dry since Uni days. Miss that kinda fun... Doing it to a Quebequois must be double the fun!!

No? I think it derives from the "dirty #5" which was the popular menu of choice after the bar, consisting of a chicken souvlaki and a poutine. But in general, there's nothing good about a poutine, so all it can be is dirty.

You will never be welcomed back into the province of Quebec for saying that.

Trust me that's not why she's not allowed back in Montreal. Let me know if you want to grab a drink some time.

Re: Just moved to Zurich from Montreal!

Where are good places to eat that are also reasonably priced... I recently grabbed some thai food at a small "restaurant". It wasn't anything special, so I felt a bit ripped off that a meal that is like 15 bucks back home was 35 here. But this is the norm, right. lol.

I also want to try authentic Swiss cuisine. Can anyone recommend anything...
