I am surprised though - if you have a girl friend who lives locally, why does she not check those out for you???
Lack of time, she works untill late and has French classes. Ive been on lots of sites but ive a past history of winding up phishing scammers, so will keep winding them up and give us all a wee chuckle!

From the first sentence it's obvious this is a scam. They always talk about Catholic missions in Africa and not being able to see you personally.
Too much God and Blessings for my taste... do they think we are that religious in Europe or what? I could never understand it. It only makes it look more obvious.

They also ask you too many questions and all letters look almost the same. If you don't realise early enough they will ask for the copies of your passport/ID. Then they will use same copies of your documents to 'prove' they are trusthworthy and these IDs, if not fake, belong to others who once, like you believed the bargain is real and sent all personal details. I don't know if anything can be done about it and have no idea how many people alerady got cheated on my ID.

Once we were looking for a flat in Berlin and had no experience with this scam. I knew about it but had absolutely no idea how serious it is. The use of English was hopeless but mine is not perfect either so I turned the blind eye on it. Unfortunatelly it was getting worse with every email and as they guy was corresponding with too many people he mixed the currency which looked ridiculous. You don't ask for the payment in USD if you are German having a flat to rent in Berlin, right? but we nearly payed the money. Be very careful.

Re: Living in Lausanne

I have seen the exact same form when I was in the UK. Seen some brilliant programs on TV where they go through with winding them up and also the old Met Police site had a link to people that have written to and from with them. You can have a lot of fun.....wait until 3am and give her a call about the flat ;-)

Re: Living in Lausanne

I think i'll play it out for a while. Also, as you're able to see the senders address, maybe we should bombard them with enquiries and late night calls?!

Re: Living in Lausanne

well, apart from all that scam stuff if you find yourself homeless come february, feel free to get in touch as i know of someone who has a free room from the end of january for short term. lausanne isn't easy for apartments and the best way is word of mouth here. with 800 you'll get a share or a room if you want to be in the center and personally, in lausanne you'll probably wat to be in the center! good luck!

Ok. So you know they are scams, right? And you are now not going to look on that site anymore, right?

Or you can just send me the money. I will put it good use.

Thanks for sharing. They would be funnier if people didn't actually fall for them!

Furnished apartment in Lausanne for 700? haaaahaaaaaahaaaaaa!!! Now THAT is funny!
