| | Heading to Ticino
Hi all,
Just wanted to do an introduction thread - I'm (most likely) moving to somewhere in ticino in January 2012 for work, after travelling around europe for a while and living in Edinburgh. I'm originally from australia...
What's the Ticino scene like, are there many people on the forum from there? I'm going to have to learn italian on the side while working so it'd be nice to have an english speaking crown to meet at least at first. I came through Lugano and Bellinzona for an interview a month ago, its beautiful but maybe seems a touch quiet? (:
Cheers

Stay in Lugano. The other places, although stunning, will be dead quiet in winter.

Nothing, but it's close to Locarno and has a bus running until midnight and is close to all the valleys.

I think there might be an expat scene in Lugano, there are a few international companies here, look on some older threads, theres a meetup (.com) event every month or so. I was meaning to go but never got around to it. Post again when you arrive and drag me and Tom (and other forum locals) out for a beer.

Hi, soltee. There's a branch of Internations here that has grown from a hundred to pushing a thousand members now. I'm no more than a member but definitely recommend it as a good introduction to life here. The next scheduled meeting is January 18 2012. www.internations.org
Filter through Switzerland to Lugano.
Best of luck with your relocation !

thanks guys, looks like the move might be pushed back towards February but I'll definitely make another post here to meet some of you once I'm in town. Cheers
