Ameri-kiwi in CH (Burgdorf BE)

Hi all,

I've been here since October, when my promise to my wife from some years ago was finally fulfilled! We wanted to try living in New Zealand as well as Switzerland, and now it is Swiss turn.

We live in Burgdorf, about 20km north of Bern, with our two girls aged 2.5 and nearly 5. Generally we are looking to see if there are people around our area who are interested in meeting up, either as play dates for our girls, or coffee (and maybe Jass) dates for us, or if anyone here is into gaming, then I'd love to fire up a co-op game of some sort! I also love playing backgammon.

I'm working as an infrastructure asset management consultant, and my wife is an emergency department nurse.

That's our story in a nut-shell!

Cheers
Guy

Hello Guy, welcome to the Forum. We have some activity in Bern, but I haven't seen any in Burgdorf.

Maybe you could organise a coffee morning and a pub crawl, then perhaps some EF people could meet up there.

Thanks for the welcome! I'd invite people to drink coffee, but I've had coffee here and... oh, I see there's a complaints corner! I'll be over there one day to discuss my failure to find a decent flat white... ;)

I might do as you suggest and try to find somewhere to be one evening, to meet people though. We are a little tied down with our kids, but maybe we can ditch them with the grandparents for a while! (We lived 3 hours away from my parents in NZ. So we packed up and travelled 20,000km to live 15 minutes from my wife's!)

We are definitely interested in meeting other parents, especially with kids around two years old! We have friends and rellies with kids around our eldest girl's age, but Ms 2YO is left tagging along behind, poor thing.

Oh I know how it is, our daughter turn 2 next weekend :) And a handful if I may say so :D Though, having a 4 year old, I'm pretty sure it's only an agething.

Would you be up for a get together and let the kids off the leash in a playground. Or better yet, a cafe? It's only 20 minutes up the road, and we are quite used to driving to get to where we need to go! (My wife's family and a close friend who have kids are both in Solothurn, so to arrange a meeting will always involve a trip.

Me and my wife live in Burgdorf. No kids though.

But we like going for hikes in the areas and when the weather gets nice I'll be looking to do some slacklinging outside (http://www.trendspotting.com.au/2011...-balancing-act)

I go climbing in Bern, occasionally play squash in Burgdorf and frequent the pubs for a beer when possible.
