Sounds like OP is primarily lonely and down, hard to find perky buddies to hang out with in that state of mind...How about some change, anything. Being busy adjusting to new stuff will stop you overanalyzing the reasons this place feel socially insufficient. Good luck and throw an event, there are bunch of youngings that aren't happy qith the usual "it's your fault" or "look at the beautiful alps and pick up your bike for some lonely rides"...
Agreed - My last post was meant more for S.J.M., who had specifically mentioned an enjoyment of adventuresome activities (and I took that to mean physically active activities)

I thought the OP was Swiss, or at least very longterm here, in which case the situation is totally different from that of a new expat who is wanting to find enjoyable things to do. Loneliness, depression..... perhaps the OP does need a new activity, or perhaps a counselling group, or private counselling, could be helpful - just to help identify, with objective support, one's own interests and passions to follow in life, whether that be here or elsewhere in the world.

Yeah,I know...I was wondering if what I have read here about busting out of CH is actually a cop out, instead of facing challenges, just look for entertainment of a different culture..Physical activity is the best for spleen, works for me,but smart folks can trick their minds only for so long...I have also left the nest super early, but then one faces the same questions all over. Finding new friends is always good. It doesn't happen by itself.

I recently talked about entitlement and how dependent we have grown to expect to be accepted. It's good to be independent of it,not want to be liked, accepted and embraced by all at all times.A bit of partisan spirit, makes life in really challenging and dufficult times easier..
